Watching and painting the lilac-breasted roller is always a joy! As an artist who loves painting with vibrant colors, the roller is an ideal subject. "Flash of Blue" is based on my best bird photograph of all time. I was thrilled to capture the roller in a perfect dive! Combining dazzling colors and acrobatic skills makes the lilac-breasted roller one of Africa's favorite and treasured birds. Each time I visit Africa, I am always delighted to spot the first roller! The lilac-breasted roller symbolizes peace in African culture, and these birds mate for life.
